    About Chris

Chris has spent his career about as close to professional rugby as you can get without a gumshield.

He joined the BBC not long after university and is now BBC Sport's rugby union correspondent, covering the game across radio, television and online. He leads BBC Radio 5 Live's Six Nations commentary, has called Rugby World Cup matches and reports from British and Irish Lions tours.

Away from the big days he co-hosts Rugby Union Weekly with Ugo Monye, Danny Care and Chris Ashton, one of the most listened to rugby podcasts in the country.

Rugby is home but it is not the only sport on his CV. In his career Chris has also covered Premier League and FA Cup football, six Open Championships, two US Opens, a Ryder Cup and five Wimbledons. He is also the rowing commentator for 5 Live's Olympics coverage. He was named the Sports Journalists' Association Commentator of the Year in 2024.
